What can you do to save energy?
Laundry
-Pre soak especially dirty clothes before putting
them in the wash to avoid the need for a hot
wash with large amounts of detergent.
-Wash fewer loads. Wait until you've got a full
load to avoid wasting energy.
Wash at lower temperatures. Uses up to 40% -
less energy and keeps clothes fresh longer.
-Dry cloths wisely. Dry back to back loads while
the drum is still warm and keep the lint
collector clear for maximum efficiency.
Lights
-Switch off lights when not in use for
obvious reasons.
-Maximize use of natural light. Open
windows and/or make sure they're clean.
-Replace iridescent light bulbs with CFL's.
Cell Phones
-Unplug your charger when it's not in use.
Even if your phone isn't connected it is still
using energy.
-Turn your phone off when you aren't using
it to avoid having to charge it often.
Showers and Hygiene
-Showers waste less water and energy than baths, but be
careful, you don't want to take one that's too long. A
shower that is 5 to 10 minuets can help conserve.
-Turn off the water when you brush your teeth.
-Try not to blow dry your hair as much, let it air dry.
